Criteria for Achieving PATHS Product Recommendation
How products become a PATHS Recommended Choice.
- Producer Supports ecological positive initiatives within their industry
Example: Poultry and Egg Companies that support Biochar Initiative would qualify
2. Must be a whole food or if a further processed food made with only natural Whole Foods ingredients and without artificial ingredients
Whole food Examples:
Eggs in Shell
Further Processed Food Example:
Oat Milk made with only Oats and natural ingredients
3.Animal Derived Foods must be:
- Non-Ruminant
- Humanely Raised
- Animal Derived whole food with a net positive environmental impact.
Example: Eggs in the Shell, Whole Chicken, raw organic or Hydroponically grown Vegetables.
4. No Single use plastic or foam packaging may be used if alternative is available.

Example:
Egg cartons cannot be single use even if made from recycled plastic So nce egg carton pulp packaging is available plastic egg cartons are a disqualifier.
5. By use of the Oxford University’s “Our World Data” study, submitted product for consideration must be determined to have a net positive environmental impact. As a starting base line all foods derived from ruminants are excluded.
